Achral is a village in District Chakwal, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The land is dry and cut by ravines, the rain-fed country typical of the Potohar plateau, with the Salt Range rising to the south. Wheat and groundnut are among the crops grown on this kind of land, where farming depends on the rains.
Like many families in this region, many households here have members serving in the army or working abroad. Those who left and those who stayed are still bound together by the same soil.
