This is Dhala.

Dhala, also spelt Dhalla, is a village in District Chakwal on the Potohar plateau of Punjab, Pakistan. The land here is dry and rain-fed, cut by ravines, with the Salt Range to the south. Families grow wheat and groundnut, and across the Potohar many households have members in the army or working abroad. By straight line, Islamabad airport is 18 km away, Rawalpindi 21 km, and Chakwal city 56 km.

Long before today's roads, Dhala lay on an old route across the Potohar, and its banks along the Swan River were a stop for travellers and caravans. Tradition says Raja Dhol Khan settled the village and made it his capital, and the Dhalla name is still carried with pride by families in the region.

The full story of Dhala is still to be told, and its own people are the ones to tell it.
