Dhudial is about 32 km away in a straight line, Choa Saidan Shah about 35 km, the Malot temple about 36 km, and the Katas Raj temples about 37 km.
Across the plateau, farming has long meant wheat and groundnut grown on rain-fed land, and many families have members serving in the army or working abroad.
