Maira is a village in District Chakwal, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies in dry, ravined country where rain decides much of the year's harvest, and the Salt Range rises to the south.
In a straight line, Choa Saidan Shah and the Malot temple are each about 35 km away, the Katas Raj temples about 38 km, and Dandot in the Salt Range about 39 km. Across the Potohar plateau, families farm wheat and groundnut on rain-fed land, and many have members serving in the army or working abroad.
