Sarkal Kassar is a village in Chakwal District, Punjab, Pakistan, home to about seven thousand people. It sits near the north-eastern edge of the district, where the land rises into the dry, ravined country of the Potohar plateau, with the Salt Range to the south. Dhudial is 20 km away, Chakwal city 24 km, and the Kallar Kahar lake and M2 motorway interchange are each 45 km in a straight line.

Farming here is rain-fed, with wheat and groundnut grown on the plateau's land. It is one of the oldest villages of the district. Awan clans make up more than four-fifths of its people, and many families have sons in the army or working abroad.

The village's own story, its founding families and its memories, is still to be told by its people.
