Bulhe Bala is a village in District Chakwal, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Chakwal city is about 10 km away, Dhudial about 18 km, and the M2 motorway at the Kallar Kahar interchange about 22 km, with Kallar Kahar lake about 23 km off in a straight line.
Farming on this plateau has long depended on the rain, with wheat and groundnut as the familiar crops. Across the region, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad, and that thread of journeys and homecomings is part of life here too.
