Chak Jani is a chak, a settlement that grew up in the canal era, in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to its south.
In a straight line, Chak Jani is about 30 km from Choa Saidan Shah and from the Malot temple, about 31 km from Dandot in the Salt Range, and about 34 km from the Katas Raj temples. Across this region, farming centres on wheat and groundnut, and many families have members serving in the army or working abroad.
