Dhok Ara is a dhok, a farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to the south.

Dhudial is about 45 km away, Chakwal city about 55 km, and Choa Saidan Shah and Rawalpindi each about 60 km in a straight line. Across the Potohar, life has long depended on the rains, and the fields are known for wheat and groundnut.

Across this region, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad. The fuller story of Dhok Ara, its people and its days, is still to be told by the families who know it best.
