This is Dhok Mian.

Dhok Mian is a dhok, a farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It is also written as Dhok Miana, Dhok Miāna, Mohra Bara or Mohra Bora, and each spelling is a way our families have written home.

The village sits on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Farming here means wheat and groundnut, grown with the patience that dry land asks for. As across the Potohar, many families here have members serving in the army or working abroad.

In straight-line distance, Dhudial is about 38 km away, Rawalpindi 42 km, Chakwal city 47 km and Islamabad airport 48 km. The fuller story of Dhok Mian, its families and its days is still to be told, and it is for its own people to tell.
