This is Dhok Ujral.
Dhok Ujral (also spelt Dhok Uiral) is a dhok, a farmstead hamlet, in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. In a straight line, it is about 11 km from Talagang, 41 km from the M2 motorway at the Kallar Kahar interchange, 42 km from Kallar Kahar lake and 43 km from Lawa.
The land around us is the Potohar plateau: dry, ravined ground where farming depends on rain, and where wheat and groundnut are the crops grown. The Salt Range rises to the south. As across this plateau, many families here have members serving in the army or working abroad.
The fuller story of Dhok Ujral, told in the words of its own people, is still to be written. This page is an invitation to write it together.
