Makhial, also spelt Makhyal, is a village in District Chakwal in the Punjab region of Pakistan. It lies close to several well-known places: Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each about 14 km away, the Katas Raj temples about 29 km, and Dandot in the Salt Range about 30 km.
The land here is part of the Potohar plateau, a country of dry, ravined ground where farmers grow wheat and groundnut on rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range rising to the south. Like many families across this area, many households have members serving in the army or working abroad.
