Buchal Kalan is a village and union council in Tehsil Kallar Kahar, District Chakwal, in Punjab, Pakistan. It sits at about 841 metres on the Potohar plateau, a dry land of ravines and rain-fed fields where wheat and groundnut are grown, with the Salt Range rising to the south.

The village takes its name from Bahauddin, known as Booch, who came here in the 16th century with his sons. He was looking for a place to herd his cattle, and over 70% of the people living here today are his descendants. The village is divided into many small tribes.

Learning has long been valued here. The first school opened in 1902, and the village now has two degree colleges and two high schools. Its literacy rate of 92.9% is the highest in Chakwal district.

گاؤں کا نام بہاء الدین، جو بوچ کے نام سے جانے جاتے تھے، کی نسبت سے ہے، جو سولہویں صدی میں اپنے بیٹوں کے ساتھ یہاں آئے۔ آج یہاں کے تقریباً ستر فیصد سے زیادہ لوگ انہی کی اولاد ہیں۔ تعلیم کی یہاں ہمیشہ قدر رہی ہے، اور یہاں کی شرحِ خواندگی ضلع چکوال میں سب سے زیادہ ہے۔
