Talagang is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It sits on the Potohar Plateau, north of the Salt Range and east of the Kala Chitta Range. The land is dry and cut by ravines, and farming depends on rain. Wheat and groundnut (peanut) are the main crops. Straight-line distances from Talagang are about 31 km to Kallar Kahar lake, about 31 km to the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway, and about 41 km to Chakwal city.

Talagang is known for its literary tradition. Satyapal Anand, a writer and poet, is among its notable people, and Nur Khan, a former Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, is another. The area is known for its peanut production, which is among the highest in the Potohar region. The surrounding countryside is home to black francolin, white-throated francolin, quail and hare. Many families have members in the army or working abroad.

The village was once called Awan Mahal, a name linked to the Awan tribe. The rest of Talagang's story, its families and its memories, is still to be told by its own people.
