Balkassar, also spelt Balokassar, is a village and union council in Tehsil Chakwal, District Chakwal, in Punjab, Pakistan. It takes its name from the Kassar tribe, who make up most of its people. It is one of a cluster of villages, including Chawli, Dhudial, Mangwal, Bikhari Khurd and Balokassar itself, where Kassar families live.

Balkassar lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Straight-line distances: Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each about 18 km away, Chakwal city is 19 km, and Talagang is 21 km.

Across the Potohar plateau, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad. The village's full story is still to be told by its own people, and this page is a place to begin.
