Dera is a village in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines and rain-fed fields, with the Salt Range to the south. Rawalpindi is about 15 km away in a straight line, Islamabad airport about 22 km, and Chakwal city about 61 km.
Farming across the plateau depends on the rain, and wheat and groundnut are the main crops of the area. Many families here have members serving in the army or working abroad.
