This is Dhok Genial.
Dhok Genial, also spelt Jhalariwali Dhok, is a dhok, a farmstead hamlet in District Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. Its name is written in more than one way, and each spelling belongs to the people who carry it.
The village sits on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines where farming depends on rain. Wheat and groundnut are grown across the plateau, with the Salt Range rising to the south. Across this part of the country, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad.
Straight-line distances give a sense of place: Talagang is 21 km away, the Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each 50 km, and Chakwal city is 53 km. The fuller story of Dhok Genial, its families and its fields is still to be told by the people who live in it.
