The village sits on the Potohar plateau, where the land is dry and cut by ravines, and the Salt Range lies to the south. Farming here depends on rain, and the plateau's fields are known for wheat and groundnut. Many families have members serving in the army or working abroad, so the village stays closely connected to people far away.
In a straight line, Kallar Kahar lake and the Kallar Kahar interchange on the M2 motorway are each about 11 km away, Talagang is 30 km, and the Katas Raj temples are 32 km. The fuller history of Jhamrah is still to be told by the people who know it best.
