This is Jayya.
Jayya, also spelt Jeya, is a village in District Chakwal in Punjab, Pakistan. It lies on the Potohar plateau, a land of dry ravines where farming depends on rain. Wheat and groundnut are grown here, and the Salt Range rises to the south.
Across this region, many families have members serving in the army or working abroad. Jayya's people carry the village with them wherever they go. The fuller story of the village is still to be told by its own people.
